Florida Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company has been providing protection to Florida lawyers for over 25 years. In celebration of that, FLMIC, in conjunction with The Florida Bar, has created The Florida Lawyers Mutual Endowment Fund. FLMIC’s initial contribution to the fund is a gift of $100,000.
“This fund will support the delivery of programs to promote professionalism, civility, ethical conduct and legal practice competency among our members,” said Gregory W. Coleman, 2014-15 Florida Bar President. “Professionalism is the cornerstone of every lawyer’s practice. It is particularly important to keep it at the forefront of everything we do today, especially considering the technological advances and other challenges affecting the delivery of legal services.”
“The Florida Bar created FLMIC to provide professional liability insurance to Florida lawyers, at a time when other insurance companies were abandoning our profession and our state,” said Jason Fogg, former President of FLMIC. “Through The Bar’s continuing support over the past 25 years, FLMIC has been able to continue its mission and maintain our core values. As a company that was created by lawyers for lawyers, we wanted to give back to the legal community in a meaningful way. FLMIC’s Board of Directors and The Florida Bar created this endowment to promote professionalism, civility and ethical conduct in the practice of law, attributes that benefit everyone in our profession.”
