They say music moves you, and at Florida Lawyers Mutual we believe that’s true. We also believe that a good song (or a few dozen good songs) can help you take pause, turn your day around, and lift your mood.
That’s why we have once again built a playlist of some staff-favorite selections as part of Well-Being in Law Week for 2025. And the best part is that you can take this playlist with you long after this week is done. We hope you’ll use it as a quick resource throughout the year when you’re in the mood for something new to listen to, something uplifting to energize a workout or a workday, and something to share with colleagues and friends as well.
We’ve also put together a little insight on some of our favorite selections and why we picked them below. This bit of background on a few of the tracks runs down why we like them and how they speak to us when we want to listen to something energizing, enjoyable, and fun.

Iz Kamakawiwo’ole – “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”
Resources and Services Manager Peggy Hewitt added this legendary track as it has been a favorite of hers for more than 30 years. “I met Iz around 1992-1993 at the Koloa Plantation Days Festival, and we learned we were born only days apart,” Peggy shares. “He found it significant and decided we would be friends. I cannot listen to this song without getting a little teary, but hearing his voice fills me with a quiet joy.”
Bill Withers – “Lovely Day”
Marketing Manager Jason Brown says, “This one lives on the same plane as ELO’s ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ – you can’t help but smile when you hear either of these songs. Bill Withers is one of those artists that can put any mood into song and make you feel it deeply. And with ‘Lovely Day’ he created a track that lifts your spirits like a sunrise and a good cup of coffee put together.”
Weezer – “Island is the Sun”
Sunshine and good times go hand in hand, and this song bottles up the two and puts them into musical form. “It just creates such a warm feeling when listening to it” according to Jennifer Silguero, Marketing Assistant. “It reminds me of sunshine and summer vacations, and it transports me back to some of my favorite memories!”
John Butler Trio – “Happy” (Pharrell cover)
Proving that a good song and a good mood can spread around the world, Australian act John Butler Trio chose Pharrell’s infectious “Happy” as a song to cover for Triple J Radio’s “Like a Version” show in Melbourne. Even stripped back and performed by a group halfway around the globe, the song is, just as the title says, undeniably “Happy.”
