We understand this is a challenging time. Recognizing the financial impact of COVID-19, Florida Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company will discontinue charging interest on outstanding balances, beginning May 1, 2020 and until further notice. This change will apply to new, renewing, and existing policyholders.
Trust and loyalty are integral to the relationships we’ve built with all the lawyers we insure. We are grateful you are part of the FLMIC family. We will be here for you as we navigate the days ahead together.

To our valued policyholders:
Out of abundance of caution for our staff, our insured lawyers, and the general public, Florida Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company (FLMIC) has transitioned to a remote work environment.
We want to assure you that our core business functions are operational and will remain so throughout the course of this challenging time. We continue to be well equipped to meet your needs.
While we do not anticipate hindrances in our ability to serve you, we would like to draw your attention to the following modifications to some of our usual business practices:
- FLMIC’s office building in Oviedo is closed and will remain closed until further notice in light of the public health threat.
- We encourage all FLMIC insureds to make premium payments by credit card to ensure quicker processing.
- We anticipate some delay in processing regular U.S. mail and courier packages. Therefore, we encourage you to communicate with us by email whenever possible.
- We are limiting non-essential travel by our staff as much as possible and in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
Your point of contact remains the same, whether that person is an underwriter, claims specialist, or any other team member. Our office telephone system will forward your calls and/or voicemails to the appropriate party. Staff members can still be reached by email or telephone, and our business hours remain the same. You may access the Staff Directory for detailed contact information here.
Please continue to contact us to provide notice of a Claim or Incident and afford us the opportunity to answer your underwriting or premium payment questions and to otherwise serve your needs.
Florida Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company truly appreciates your loyalty, patience, and understanding. We know this is a challenging time for everyone in our state and around the world. Please monitor the Operations Update section of our website for any urgent alerts or updates.
On behalf of everyone at FLMIC, we wish good health and protection to you and your loved ones. We look forward to continuing to serve you.

In light of the evolving public health concerns surrounding the novel coronavirus, we want to reassure you that Florida Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company (FLMIC) remains fully operational. We are committed to serving our insured lawyers, as well as to protecting the health and safety of our staff and the surrounding communities. FLMIC is taking steps to ensure that our operations, services, and policy coverage can continue without interruption, even if COVID-19’s spread should reach our community in greater numbers and result in a reduction of our staff.
Our company has an “A” rating from A.M. Best, indicating financial strength with a stable outlook, a rating which we have held year after year since 2013. Additionally, we partner with reinsurance companies to provide additional stability and security for our insureds in the event that a claim is made.
We have enhanced our office’s hygiene practices, and we have invested in technology that makes it possible for our employees to work remotely. We are reducing any non-essential travel and working with our partners at voluntary bar associations throughout the state to reschedule sponsored events and CLE whenever possible. Please stay tuned to our website, emails, and Facebook page for further pressing updates. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our office during regular business hours. We will continue to update this webpage as needed.
